Granville

We rented a house in Granville in Normandy for a week, primarily so Lola could experience a seashore before the end of her days.  The house had a garden and an "incroyable" view of the sea.

There were 4 stories to climb, so we all got our exercise, including Lola.

We ran into a fellow who played on a lacrosse team for Detroit

Lola's big adventure

An unattended kiosk on the beach for books to take for free.  People leave them behind and others help themselves.  This is just another example of the French love of hard cover books.

A trip to the boyhood home of Christian Dior was delightful.  Not surprisingly, he was surrounded by beauty, a feeling we also have in France.

He designed these perfect little dolls for the children of friends.

Did you know that he only established his own house of design when he was about 42 and died 10 years later.  He was succeeded by an extremely young designer named Yves St. Laurent.

In town near the casino, we were amused by this film announcement.

The seamen of Granville do a nude calendar for charity (just like the Helen Mirren movie "Calendar Girls."

  1. The seashore is lovely. However, I am concerned about your comment about Lola. Is she ill? Sophie and Sara send kisses.

    1. Lola is almost 16 and rapidly declining with various ailments and dementia. She still has some quality of life and is even frisky at moments.
