The parade of friends continued with Kye Fox and her husband in Paris. Kye and Ron both received awards of excellence at our French school last year.
Then we were blessed with a visit to Amboise by Gordana and Mike. Although they promised to come for 3 years, we never were sure they would actually make it.
Arrival at Amboise Train Station
Dinner at La Breche
Truth be told, Gordana missed Lola as much (or perhaps more) than us.
It was Lotte's 25th birthday. We all dressed up for the occasion.
Barbara's former law partner, Peter Nathan, arrived with girlfriend Lanie. They now reside in Las Vegas. Once again, dinner at La Breche (our local favorite) was a delight.
As usual, we all explored the gardens at Villandry which change throughout the seasons.
The current owner is a great grandson of Ann Coleman, an American who revived the gardens at Villandry with her own plans. She was the youngest of 11 children and went to Bryn Mawr. In the late 1890's she studied physiology in Paris and met a young Spanish med student. They wed and with her fortune, together they transformed the gardens in 1906 into what we see today.
We also strolled about the city of Tours with a guide.
