Nous Sommes Revenus

It has been quite a while since last we posted here.  Events intervened in some unexpected ways.  Primarily the death of Barbara's mother in September after years of illness occupied our time and attention.  In late August, the immediate family gathered in Michigan for Mollie's 90th birthday.  A genuinely joyous moment in which Mollie fully participated.

Above are Barb's brother Howard and his wife Sara, his daughter Punzel, Barb, Ron and Mollie.  Below that is Howard's son Greg and his wife Gabrielle and children Hudson and Scarlett.

Above Mollie delighted in caressing the bunny rabbit a magician pulled out of his hat while performing for everyone, especially the children.  Alas, after most family left following the celebratory weekend, Mollie's health declined rapidly.  Two weeks following the festivities she passed away having reached the milestone she had hoped to reach.  We miss our phone conversations with her every day.  However, her last lesson to her family was to learn to go on without loved ones as she had to do throughout her life.  She prepared us well for handling life's challenges, even the final ones.

Upon our return to France in late September, we were blessed with many visitors from the US.  First were Bill and Nancy Edmunds.  Below we toured Villandry together.

Lola enjoyed the fall displays of grapes on the trellis

 And so did Barbara

Lola was pooped at the end of the day

Next Toni and Perry Petersen from California came into town.

Next up Alicia Masse and Michael Wolf

The wall behind us in the restaurant was made entirely of vegetables.

Then Barbara and Hezi Schaffer from Maryland arrived

We celebrated Barbara Schaffer's 70th birthday.  No one guessed her age was actually 70.  She has finally decided to retire from the Red Cross.

Our most recent guests were Bonnie and Jim Kaufman from New York

So as you can see, we have been a wee bit busy with all our obligations in Michigan and guests here in France.  Soon we will catch the blog up on some other sights we have experienced recently.
