Establishing Ourselves in Amboise

In March Barbara and her French companion Denise traveled to Amboise to locate a residence to rent and set up various accounts for the big move.  Thanks to the banker, Monsieur Roquin (who was wearing a tie with Sylvester the Cat and Tweety Bird), all accounts and cards were easily established.  Next task was negotiating a lease for the tiny bungalow on L'Ile D'Or, a small island in the Loire River right across from the royal castle in Amboise.  Monsieur Jacob, the notaire, handled this transaction, again with ease.  Since French rentals do not come with applicances, Barbara and Denise spent time at LeClerc scoping out all sorts of items.  As for furniture, fortunately there is an Ikea very close to Amboise in the major city of Tours about half hour away.  A lovely Scottish/British couple welcomed us and will serve as our guide to living in Amboise, although everyone we met was delightful and helpful, especially Madame Bigot, our landlord, and the inheritor of a family patisserie of great reknown nationwide.  We move on May 22 and begin the adventure.  A bientot.
